The who, where, what, why and when of Fearless
WHO ARE WE?
We are your family, your friends, and your coworkers. Our group includes public servants, Federal workers, veterans, and a variety of professionals, united in our love for our country and its people, and committed to compassionate, non-violent advocacy for democracy.
We truly believe our country is the greatest nation on earth. We love how America has lead the world by example, and we are proud to be Americans.
We are just like you.
We are patriots who believe in individual dignity, personal responsibility, respect for all people, fair enforcement of the law, and creating opportunities for more Americans to succeed.
We believe that all Americans deserve to be happy, healthy, safe, and prosperous.
WHY ARE WE?
We are concerned about the health of democracy, the rule of law, and the constitution. This is not comfortable for many of us. As patriots, we want to feel proud of our country and to live in a peaceful, easy way. However, we also believe that true Americans do not stay quiet when we feel something is wrong with our country or wrong for its citizens.
And so, even though we don't necessarily want to think of ourselves as protestors, we are left with no other choice but to try to make our voices heard, even though it is uncomfortable, unpopular, or even feels unsafe at times, for the love of our country and for the love of its people.
All Americans deserve to have a voice that is heard, and we are doing our best to speak up. If you can relate to any of this, please know you are in the right place.
WHere ARE WE?
Fearless (Indivisible Fargo) is a grassroots, non-partisan, pro-democracy organization of American citizens based in Fargo, ND. Our members identify with both major political parties and as independents.
We come from all walks of life, including: business owners, veterans, scientists, medical doctors, Federal employees, private sector employees, designers and artists, union members, educators, students, and retirees.
Our members hail primarily from the Red River Valley, on both the sides of the river, but also other parts of both North Dakota and Minnesota. We work in partnership with Red River United Indivisible (based in Moorhead MN) and numerous other grassroots groups in Fargo-Moorhead, and across North Dakota and Minnesota.
WHat do WE do?
The national Indivisible organization (indivisible.org) exists to offer training and resources to member chapters related to helping citizens participate in their democracy. The national organization does not direct local chapters on any specific agenda, aside from holding elected officials accountable to their constituents.
Our methods to holding elected officials accountable include acts both simple and great. It can be as simple as making phone calls to our elected officials or sending them emails, letters, and postcards. It also means organizing meetings with elected officials and their office staff; calling for and participating in town halls by elected officials; participating in protests and rallies; and organizing local events to build community in Fargo-Moorhead.
